Congrats! He's a nice one, especially for a first buck! My first was a basket-racked 6 with a rifle, and a small 4 pt with a bow. As with so many other things in life, you'll always remember the first.
As for the small parcels or land areas, size doesn't matter.

As others have said, all you need really is enough room to stand and take a shot. This could be as small as a 1/4 acre if it's in the right spot.

We've got 2 tracts down on the farm, one is 100 acres the other is 68 acres. I mainly hunt the 68 acres, but of that, I've got 1 little natural blind that do the vast majority of my hunting out of. I can shoot about 50 yds in any direction and that's what I hunt.
As for the food, as others have said, corn is a good one to plant. Make sure you plant quite a bit though, otherwise the coons will tear it all down before the deer get to it. You can never go wrong with just regular white clover either.
