You can stuff your own bags with clothes as was mentioned, minus buttons, zippers, and anything else that's not cloth.

I've made my own with plastic wrap like what you use to shrink wrap pallets stuffed into a sewn together tarp. Works well. Make sure you stuff these home made bags tight, weak spots of loose stuffing will bury the arrows in too deep and can damage the vanes or pass through completely.
There are also cheaper bags which I have used. These Arrow Brake targets work great, especially when suspended. I shoot at them from 20 yards with my ventilator and the arrows only bury in about 10" or so from that range, my Ibex much less so.

For broadheads, your best ones are made by Rinehart. The 18-1 or RhinoBlock.

Hi Mike -
Welcome to the Forum and the sport.
I will ditto what Awshucks said --- buy a bag target (Morrell $55) and get a Rinehart 18-1 (around $100).
I also shoot an Equinox. I use Slick Trick 175 grain heads. When you buy the heads, you also get the field tips in the same package. You can shoot the bag with the field tips and the Rinehart is for the broadheads. My heads hit pretty much exactly where the field tips hit.
Just to make you a little more anxious -- I have a piece of 1/2" plywood behind my Morrell bag target. The "beast" you are waiting for will go thru the bag and stick several inches thru the plywood when shooting from 20-30 yards with a field tip. Especially if you hit a hole in the bag you have hit previously. I turn my bag and shoot at the ends of the bag. More stopping ability. The Equinox is not called the "beast" for nothing! It's a lot of fun to cock too - unless you are a large boy. If you are old and short like me, tie knots in your cocking rope.
You may trust the Excalibur claim that this Xbow will kill anything in North America.
Enjoy! And as stated earlier - any questions, just ask. You will not believe how knowledgeable and helpful the folks are on this site. It is the best!
