newbie wrote::wink: He stated he had and sold the 380 already. He was also looking for tested speeds not assumptions. I posted a link to tested speeds already. Maybe I'll look up the meaning of tested I could be wrong again.
The new shorter bows are easier to cock being short draw. I think both are easier then my vortex was to cock. Don was kind enough to let me give his 380 a go.
I'd love to see more boo string test results on the matrix too. More people need to make this happen. :) When I can spring for it, I want to get a chronograph. :)

Yes the issue is not strength but shoulder problems. I can cock the 380....I had one :) but my shoulders have also worsened some since then and I've never cocked or shot the 355. From what everyone else has told me there is a noticeable difference in the cocking effort, some difference in noise and a difference in the reaction of the bow upon release.

As for noise....deer won't know the difference between any xbow likely, however 2 hours of shooting and the shooter will know :) I don't buy bows thinking about what the deer will hear I buy them according to quality, speed. weight, balance and what negatives I will have to deal with and getting the best bang for a pleasurable shooting and hunting experience.

I think both bows are great and I'm not saying I won't get a blackout 380 but I'm about settled in that the 355 is the best bang for both hunting and shooting.

There is a noticeable different in cooking the bows. Thats why I went with the 355. More enjoyable and fun to shoot more. And as for balance it felt at home shouldered then the 380 did for me.

Newbie, I haven't talked to anyone that has shot both bows say they liked the 380 better. Everyone I've gotten solid feedback from says 355 is the way to go and some of those guys like speed as good as I do :) So to me that speaks volumes.

Thats not to say the 380 isn't an awesome bow, I'm talking over all experience not just a weapon to kill with.

I have a 380 blackout , I love it but I'm not shooting it all afternoon as I do with my old Exo 200. AS far as the 355 goe's I think the rush on the 380 has been over taken by the 355. Talking to the manager at my local shop, he said the camo 380 flew off the shelf followed by the 355 but that trend has switched , he's not going to see another camo 380 let alone a 355 till end of may he told me ? Still has a blackout hanging there . Must be double time at Ecal !!

I think it just felt the same for me because of my height. I dunno. The last couple of inches of both the 355 and the 380 takes a little OOMPH and it felt the same. I owned my 380 before I even got to cock a 355 because the sports store in Chattanooga finally got in the 355 and they let me try it out.

But regardless, both are great. What really pushed me toward the 380 is all the stuff that came with it. I didn't have a scope I could use and the antidryfire sounded nice. It actually got put to use, today. I forgot to load an arrow... LOL I was happy to have it on there. But if the money isn't an issue and if you have the stuff you need, I can't imagine you not being happy with either choice. :)

Oh, OK, I thought someone said it didnt' come with a scope. The display one I cocked didn't have the scope mounted. Well, then, that's not so bad at all, then. :)

It's surprising that side by side the 380 is the better deal. The more I review the 2 models, the more I wonder why the 380 is offered with more, for the same money and why didn't Excal offer the same extras on the 355?

380 Offered in 2 optional colours
355 Sold in 1 and it not even Colourfusion Camo
380 Sold with ADF, R.E.D.S., and Cheek piece
355 is not.

All these can be purchased and added, but at the end of the day they will now be the same price, but still not the equal in power.

I've often wondered why they don't offer all the models as a bare units and add options to dress them up, to the level each individuals would like or offer package groups, from basic to full optioned. Hopefully, it's in future plans.

It's all a matter of perspective. Depends on what you are after. If you are one of those guys need the fastest car or biggest gun then the 380 is for you. Me I drive a 97 VW diesel so the 355 is Simply perfect.
What do you mean by it not even Colourfusion Camo? Is the 380? It would be nice to have different packages though like build your own. But to some alot of the extras aren't needed or wanted. The only extra. Added was the cheek piece fits me right on the Matrix but didnt on the Vortex.

I really think I'll end up with the 355, it isn't the speed that has my attention with the Matrix, it's the compactness more then anything, but in the same token, there's 25 fps for free, so why not? I guess that's what has me perplexed, it's the value for the dollar. Yep, I'm being financially frugal or cheap!

In my case, I'm very content with my Phoenix, so I'm not overly eager to upgrade just yet. I am definitely leaning toward the 355 though, and funny enough, the slower of the two, is certainly no slouch! :D

Calco, the ADF is a nice feature :) and if you add all the goodies the 380 has its going to be right at the same price. But it does indeed come with a scope. I've not cocked the 355 so I can't personally say, only what others have said. I know I can tell a difference between a vortex and equinox.

There's really no wrong answer on these bows. I just have to decide if my speed side is going to over power my comfort side :)
