Re: The Hunt! SUCCESS!!!!
First let me just say that Mike Jacklin the owner, main man and one heck of a cook weren't way out of his way to help this old fart out on my hunt. I came without a truck and he offered me one but I mentioned that I get turned around easy and just wear out from a lot of walking and he took care of me ALL the way. Also the hunters in camp were like family. I was by far the best camp that I have had the pleasure of hunting in. Here is his website; http://wickedwhitetailoutdoors.com/ It was in zone 4 and it takes 3 to 4 years to get a tag but you will not regret it for a moment.
OK, this is how it came together. I went in at 2:00PM and it started off slow but in an hour I had does moving around me and one smaller buck. At 5:00 I was sitting there thinking of what a great hunt it was and all the deer I passed on that I would have shot in Wi. when I saw a rack in some high grass in the timber roughly 80 yards off. Thought it looked fairly large so I committed to him and waited. At 5:00 I saw a doe come out of the grass and headed my way with a big buck following and I thought it was the light colored buck and it really was a dark color rack and also big. The doe led the buck around me and kind of turned me around on my stand for shooting. The light was fading and I put the lighted pins on and brought it up and I couldn't see ****. I got nervous and figured out that I must have fogged it and quickly rubbed it with my thumb and brought the bow up again. This time he was behind tree but finally stepped out. I judged it at just under 40 yards and pulled the trigger. I heard it hit and he took off but I thought he run with a sliding movement. Then all was quiet. Then a buck and it was the light colored racked buck came right under my stand and followed the doe. Man I was not sure what the heck was going on. I knew I shot a good buck but thought it was this one. Well, I got down and now it is last light and walked to where he was and found a good amount of blood. Mike was just coming with the 4 wheeler so we started tracking. He said right away that this buck is dead and sure enough it did not go 50yards and it was done. Man, when I saw him up close it was something. Rack was sticking way up and it was by far the best buck that I ever shot. Turned it over and I hit it in the hind quarter and cut the femoral artery. I think it was the thick clothing that I was wearing and my was not looking through the scope correctly. But like Mike Jacklin said, Its dead, its a good hit. What more would you want for. Boy, down the the last minutes of the hunt. What a rush it was.
Mike Jacklin is the best guide I have ever hunted with and it was like family at camp. AND he said that he would have me back. Switching places I am not sure that I would have the patience to put up with me but Mike J. does and I thank him for that.
4 years of waiting and a lot of planning and dreaming and BAM, my hunt of a lifetime came true. What a hunt

Great Buck Mike!!
Never violate a woman, nor harm a child. Do not lie, cheat or steal. These things are for lesser men. Protect the weak against the evil strong. And never allow thoughts of gain to lead you into the pursuit of evil.
