Nikon or Loopy optics would be nice but my TZ is clear enough for any distance I shoot.I like the reticle design,no guess work in the heat of battle.

As one shot scott says... If you do the research as I have done almost 80% of the glass that goes into scopes no matter whos name is on them come from china.....The other 20% and a small percent of china glass are considered high quality. just as scott says The next desk over is making the glass for leupold... And it has been this way for awhile...I own two older leupold scopes with excellent glass.. The big thing is leupold is assembled in the U.S.A. Which I think is the main reason Leupold scopes holds there own....Not assembled at the same desk their glass comes from..... Japan, Europe , Phillippines, Is now the home of the best made scope optics in the world... Where its assembled and from where they obtain there glass is to me the best sign of Quality in a scope!!

I bought a lightly used Leupold VX-I 2-7x33mm shotgun/muzzleloader scope. Mounted it with Leupold rifleman detachable low rings.

I sold my Equinox in order to buy my Matrix 355. I sold the Equinox without a scope. I received my Matrix 355 package and I immediately sold off the Chinese made Tact-Zone scope including Excalibur rings.

I mounted my Leupold scope with Leupold rifleman rings on my Matrix 355 for an awesome setup.

I only hunt with Leupold scopes.

Andrew

So Andrew, just so it is clear to me, are you saying you prefer Leupold scopes?

All kidding aside...dealing with my "partna" Danny Miller is just wonderful. I have shipped back my "dead-zone" scope to him this morning and he is shipping me the Leupold Crossbones today...gave him all of my CC information which he was fine doing the transaction without the DZ in his hands...

If the stars align right, I hope to have the LCB by Friday and be at the range Sat morning...sighted in and hunting Sat night....otherwise I am stuck hunting with my old Matrix 380...Oh well such is life!

Anthony :)
Absolutely, I am a Leupold fan!

I have Leupold's made before 1974 to current year and each and every one is crystal clear and function flawlessly.

Anthony congratulations, you made the right move to trade for another Leupold crossbones crossbow scope. Danny Miller is top notch and understand the importance of a quality optic.

What is a good price for the Leopold crossbones? I think they make a great scope I just wish it was a little more compact!

Is the Dead Zone a noticeable improvement over the Vari Zone?

So that makes the Deadzone worth about $29
I think as i save up my samolians to improve my optics/scopes n such. I will get better quality glass/lens. To do that i must forgo any plans on buyin a Micro.

You can basically build a one of a kind, high-end rig that suits your needs/wants.

Why can't Excalibur offer the same? Instead we are basically forced to pony up for second rate accessories and the customer can't custom order anything.
Short answer, time and money. Instead of puttin x number of bows in packages, they'd have to have someone rigging yours.

Makes no sense for a marketing strategy.

That said, Anthony I think its dangerous to imply that anything from china is junk. the lumizone that's made next to the table that puts together the tactzone could very well be down the street of the people making glass & components for the leupold.
Buying American went out the window w/ Clinton and NAFTA. Most all of us use Canuck xbows, type about them on ginzu computers or talk to each other on ginzu cell phones. It is what it is........

There are two mfgs of American made xbows left, Darton and Kodabow.

I was already hooked on Excals when I learned about them, lol.

.....Just received a new Nighmare 335 8) crossbow for a friend of mine who is coming over from the traditional bow....

...here are my observations:

1. box was clearly opened and retaped as the large label indicating the type of crossbow was broken indicating it was opened,

2. on that label the type of included scope was "whited out with correction tape" and nothing was entered on label,

3. upon opening retaped box most of the styrofoam was broke and/or missing and stuffed with "newspaper",

4. the included scope was an octane deadzone and was in an unmarked box,

5. the scope protective cover in the box was ripped in certain places indicating possibly that this is a used scope. The scope looks new BUT includes the rings already attached. They appear new and unused. No evidence of usage by looking at screws or where the scope would be attached.

How would you feel about this? What would be your response. Mind you, this is my 3rd 335 which I received and neither of the other two came this way.

It came from a reputable dealer on this site.

I did not take anything else out of the box because I want my friend to get some enjoyment in opening this up.

Hmmmmm????

This just strikes me as VERY,VERY unprofessional and NOT the way Excalibur would have worked in the past...Curious to hear other people's take on this.

You should receive an unopened box that was sealed! If'en its been opened then the pkg. has been gone through/changed. Dealer should never ever do that

....I just left a posting on the Excalibur site copying my original post...we shall see what the response is...I am sorry, if this is where all of this is heading with the product...IMHO it does not bode well for the future...again, I am not saying, "the sky is falling"...just saying that it does not bode well....
