This morning here in NR AR, it's 13 F with 16 mph wind. Wind chill is -4. Unfortunately, though I'm supposed to be off work today, I'm having to work most of the day, anyway. The joys of being an over 70 , private practice dentist and trying to take vacation on our 3 day gun season, ML SG only (out of a total of 7 days for all year)!
However, it'd be miserable out there. Passed up 16 slick heads and 3 small racked bucks yesterday.
This afternoon should have the temps in the high teens. For us southerners, this is pretty cool. I'll be out there!
For you Canadians and northerners, this might be a heat wave.

I was out last night in single digits, as long as the wind is moderate it's doable. Can't seem to get the toe warming gig just quite right yet, not bad but a reminder of the cold. Late season hunts are a highlight of the season, deer move and if there is a food source, good chance you'll see deer...

Went out and sat for 4 hours yesterday afternoon. Air temp was -18C (0F) and windchill was supposedly -28C (-18F). Had 6 does come in at 430 pm to the food plot and watched them at 15-20 yards for about 15 minutes. Two or three of them kept their eyes on me at all times and one finally decided to come over and check me out. She got to within 3 yards (I was sitting on the ground behind some windfall) before she smelled me and gave the alarm call.

I felt like the Michelin Man but was quite comfortable

Still here. 18F 13-15 mph wind. It’s brisk. Not for old people, so you old people stay in and leave it for us youngsters. It’s our 3 day “gun” season. I have my 45 PacNor barrel’d Sav 10ML2. 195 Barnes @ 2770’/sec. 3” hi @100, 2”low @200. 16 does yesterday morning, 3 scrub bucks. Didn’t shoot. Much colder tomorrow.

Getting close to too cold for me to be in open treestand. 12 F/15 mph N wind and going down to 6 F/15 mph N wind. Getting close to too cold . I'll see later this afternoon. Maybe we >70 southerners are just soft.

I get cold now jus readin this Thread, its kept me out of my ML huntin season. Even in my ground blind in 2 hrs my feet are like blocks of ice. Then they ache n hurt so bad til i can get them by the wood stove to thaw out. Its all i can do to go out n split fire wood n bring it in the cabin at 17 degrees. Jus 2 days left of my ML season n weather says both will be 2-3 degrees lows n high teens fer the highs

Y'all can make fun of my southern butt. 26F this morning, north wind 12 mph. Blowing freezing drizzle. I made it fine in my "shooting house". If I was in a tree ..... never wanted a deer that bad. Saw 2does, 3 fawns. Would have had to been good to pull the trigger and take my gloves off to start the work.
Go ahead.... make fun! Trip home was interesting with all road closures and wrecks from ice.

Got a doe last night . It was so cold that it made it hard to even get the skin off her in time . This morning it was -27 with out a windchill .
The nice thing is the deer in this cold have to keep moving and eating . :)
Paul , 26 F that is darn near tropical . Were you hunting in a t-shirt .

It was 78 in my den this morning and while drinking a couple of cups of hot coffee and reading Crossbow forums on the computer I kept a half an eye on my food plot out back for deer. None were seen and I enjoyed not being outside in the cold. Will probably get up early and do it again tomorrow. It is nice having all the deer meat I need already in the freezer. 8) :D

I spent the last 2 hours of the day in a stand. 16 F 10 mph N wind. It was a bit cold. 2 6-pts, bb, 3 does. Nothing I wanted to shoot. Certainly nothing I wanted to get back home nor field dress.
It’s morning now, was up much of the night helping my son with his car - outside in the 6F temp along with light wind. Miserable! Yet, places north are 20-30 degrees F colder than here: hopefully a drier cold.
Yes, I’m going after I wake up a bit. :D
