By looking at the the FRED BEAR XBOW, I'd definitly say that it isn't the same as the MAXPOINT. The Stock and deck look a little bite different, but the limbs and cams look the same.

It's looks different, but it will definitly have hunting potential. I have heard threw the grape vine, that the fred bear is made in China. If thats true I wouldn't buy it, knowing the quality china produces.

You can't compare the 175 lb draw weight of a recurve to the 175 lb draw weight of the Maxpoint/Paradox. Trust me. With 0% letoff, the Maxpoint seems to develop its maximum draw weight very early in the draw stroke. I don't have the tools to measure or graph it compared to a recurve, but I have cocked my Maxpoint many times, and I can tell you the difference is very noticable. There may be others who have copied the design, but the Maxpoint/Paradox was the first to feature the 0% letoff concept in a compound crossbow. Although no longer in production, it's a classic and is a testament to Bill T's genius.

will the maxpoint take the same bolt as an excalibur with flat end? if so i'm thinking about a beman thunderbolt with feathers for that bow, oh and by the way i ordered it today my brother is a member of the club and got me the 359.00 price cant wait to play with both bows and compare the 200 exocet and the maxpoint side by side, the 0% letoff sounds real interesting..speedball................................ 8) 8)

The 0% let off is being carried on in the Fred Bear F-series xbows starting this year to replace the Maxpoint.

Yes, the Maxpoint will take the same flat-end bolts as the other Excalibur bows. I have shot both 2216s (the same ones I shoot from my Vixen) and 2219s with the Maxpoint. Because of its power I mostly use 2219s. I still shoot aluminum, I haven't gone to carbons yet.

I use Beman Thunderboltswith my Paradox, 425gr bolts work well.
