Well, that's just an example of someone from out of state not knowing what's going on in PA.

There have been a lot of changes over the years that have not made it in time to go in the digest. THey just put out a press release to notify everyone of the changes after the digest in printed.

As for alot of folks not knowing(about Weaner's proposal), well most folks around here don;t even know there is a new process for doe applications and that they are beginning to accept them next monday instead of 3 weeks later, as in the past! There's gonna be a lot of upset hunters, and it won't have anything to do with crossbows!

Most people wait til the last few days before doe apps are due(every year), then buy their license(to get the application). If they do that this year, they will be 3 weeks late! :(

Most hunters don;t keep up with things like you or I do.(avid hunters)

I told 9 of my hunting friends about the change when I became aware of it weeks ago and only 1 of the 9 knew what I was talking about! Had to send them a link to the PGC website to prove it!

NOTHING of this magnitude, right?

The folks that bought the new crossbows in anticipation of using them the entire archery seaosn will be beating down Weaner's door if he changes it now.

BTW - We should know something within 48 hours. If his proposal is accepted watch the proverbial poop hit the fan and Weaner will be standing in front of it.

It shouldn't matter! Those folks will still get to use their crossbows for 5 weeks even if Weaner's proposal passes.(2 week archery, 2 week rifle and 1 week of early muzzleloader antlerless). Beats the heck out of what they have now!

I have heard some say that if they would have known it would be only those 5 weeks and not the entire archery season, they would not have bought a crossbow.

Well, I contend that they were not very committed to crossbow hunting in the first place, if they would pass on buying a crossbow because they could "only" use it for 5 weeks a year!

Using a crossbow in the muzzeloader or rifle season is pointless...who takes a bow to a gun-fight? The crossbow is a bow plain and simple and belongs in the bow season, people who look at it any other way probably have never shot a crossbow or understand its capabilities. Every so-called bowhunter should actually pick up a crossbow and hunt with it before they make judgement where the crossbow belongs.

The interesting part is most crossbow hunters have used a compound, recurve or longbow to hunt with and are totally educated on how all bows work. I guess ignorance is bliss.

I have shot a crossbow and are FULLY aware of it's capabilities!

If you are such a dedicated crossbow hunter, why do you put it away when the firarms season opens?

I love bowhunting and I use my compound and recurve all HUNTING seasons. Archery, rifle and lateseason!

You are in an EXTREME minority then.

Most "bowhunters" put down thwir bow and pick up thw gun as soon as thw seasons changes.

Also most bowhunters lay down their bow at the end of seasons and don't pick it up again until one or two weeks before next bow season.

That isn't what Peter said. Have you hunted with one? Just shooting one does not count.

My antlerless license application is in the mail today! I remembered.
--but there was a LONG line of hunters waiting at Wal-mart last evening buying their hunting licenses.
The county commissioners accept them on Monday, but mine is in the mail today.
