Delay in posting again is good. He's either still searching for his deer (unlikely) or busy gutting and skinning. If the coyotes got it, he'd not be busy and delayed. My bet is that he's gutting and skinning.

Well, we just got back and regrettably no buck. First time in a long time that I lost one. That is the end of my buck hunting for this year. Here are some pics of a couple of friends that went in with me and our machines.

Image
That is my Big Red ready to go.

Image
Their fresh and eager NOW. Wait till later

Image

This is way back in to Mike Paul's cabin. I was the carpenter on that one.

We got to my stand and went to where I saw his rack moving and no deer. We followed the deer for about a 1/3 of a mile with bright red blood but he did not ever lay down. He got to a spot where he walk in a ten foot circle and he lost us. We circled around it to try and pick up a trail and nothing. Then we check all the main trails and nothing. Then we check all the thick spots and found this.
Image
Got there a little late on that one.

So here I am a broken man.
Image

I am sure that the deer will die. I saw entrails hanging out of him. The blame goes solidly on my shoulders. He got to me and I got nervous and rushed what should have been an easy shot. He never bedded down once. One hard pill to swallow but it is what it is. Such a loss.
