Your right on all accounts Woodsman. Speaking of beautiful provinces, Quebec is nothing to over look either.
To be honest, what I do in most of my post or threads, if you guys haven't noticed, is always trying to sell Saskatchewan. Our population in the 1930's was about 1 million people, guess what, its still that today, maybe a little less. The Western way for the past 3 decades, is this, YOUR BORN IN SASKATCHEWAN, WORK IN ALBERTA, RETIRE IN BRITISH COLUMBIA. That bothers me to no end.
We have such HUGE potential, Saskatchewan accounts for 30% of the worlds uranuim, 45% of Canada's agriculture, the second province with the most OIL and NATURAL GAS, we also have huge deposits of tar sands that stretch into Sask. from Alberta, (just that its a 100 meters below surface) I'm not sure of how much Potash but definetely the most in the world. Half of our province is solid forest, which means lots of timber. So why are we always sucking up the back end?? Enough ranting.
So if yourself or anyone is tired of the hectic life style, congestion of cities, signs always telling you what to do, frustrating laws and bylaws, crime, inflation, and most of all no where to hunt and fish, then may I suggest this province.
With close to 100,000 lakes, which 80% have no roads to, quarter sections of land that have Elk, Moose, Deer, and Bears, if your lucky a deep enough pond to transplant rainbow trout, all for anywhere from $25-30,000 or higher in some cases, how can you go wrong??? Did I mention upland birds?? Oh Ya, ruffled grouse, spruce hens, etc. etc. etc......
The price of real estate in Eastern Canada, Alberta, and B.C., is way, way higher than here. In the States I believe its even higher.
The only negative comment I've heard is that its cold here in the winter time. That's mostly right, but with no word of lying, it was alot colder when I was a kid. But Global Warming is taking care of all that. The past 6 winters were not very cold at all, with below snow falls, and temperatures.
Thank You for taking the time to read this. Our all welcome here to Saskatchewan, and that includes Americans!!!!
I LOVE CANADA!!!!!!

GREY OWL I will tell ya, if I could only talk my WIFE into it I would have been there already. However my Women is no longer a outdoors/woods type of women any more....She is a hillbilly by birth, brung up in the wild hills of West,Virginia and and back woods living.
But now.....NO WAY it's city style suburb living with all the comforts....and in her eyes safety
of being around Hospitials and Doctors near by, stores within a mile or two
that sorta thing. Hey you win some and put up with some
shucks I am use to this
so I might as well come on up.

I know where you guys are coming from. Realistically, few if any of you forum members can pull stakes and move. Your entrenched in careers, family, investments, whatever. As a couple gets older, it seems to be always the wife never wants to move more than 2 blocks from malls, hospitals, restaurants, and all the amenities of city living. But if you look at what we've done, and many of my associates, we've boughten a good land mass just 70 minutes away from a major city. Far enough to get away from the urban jungle, but yet you won't bleed to death if ya cut ya self. In fact my wife grew up in a city, and never knew Adam from an apple, now she's in tears when we have to come back home to Saskatoon after the weekend. Country living allows a family to do things not ever possible in a city. My kids go bonkers when we head out to the land, Quading, snowmobiling, fishing, plinking with .22's, firepits, building forts with deadfall, and much more. One of the most enjoyable things I like, believe it or not, is cutting firewood with my chainsaw, then splitting it, very good enjoyable excercise.
RichardS, for a young fellow like you, it would be perfect. You could marry a nice farm girl that can cook you meals, iron your clothes, and raise your kids. Your right though, no T.O. Maple Leafs here, you'd have to jump on a chartered bus and head to Edmonton or Calgary, we do have a extensive Maple Leaf following. Well, Heck!! Wendall Clark's from here. In fact his family's farm sits in the best hunting Saskatchewan's has to offer.
Take care boys.
