I thought it might be time to revive this old thread. Now that STS systems are widely available, some of the new members might be like me . . .rather save a little money and build their own.

It's a little rough looking, but, works flawlessly. I replaced the L brackets with a hard plastic, it lasts longer.

I did make a trade that included a STS and now have a manufactured one on my bow . . .but, the one in this thread is easily made.

It's interesting reading back on it now . . .it's a good read.

Happy Easter everyone. :)

g'day this may help you see what o'l mate means, the 2 small blocks in front of the string in the photo is were the string hits the riser block, also the riser is the peace that holds the limbs in place & bolts to the main frame..frank

Now let me ask this . When you say the string "hits the riser" , do you mean where it joins the rails ? On my Phoenix there is no diff. in height . The riser and rail align perfectly and I have noticed no damage (so far)to the serving .
its in front notice the high part about 2 inc in front of where your string is sitting well the strings belts up against it when you shoot thus wear & noise...

blackjack . . .tuskine's post was in 2007, not sure why the question wasn't answered then. Anyway, I thought it was cool to see the comments about the STS and some of the information in the thread. The STS has come a long way in a few short years . . .both in appearance and the reasons we use one.

Read the complete thread . . .the history of the STS is in there. Pretty cool that a member here made the first one. I wonder if Crossbolt or Grandtrout still visit the forum???? I hadn't seen them post in forever.

I do not . . .however, it's very hard to get this type of patent. With the incoming new model(Excalibur), I would be guessing he either did not get the patent or he will be fighting to defend it.
