Variscope vs Exomax - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - > Answer
Hello,
I am a new to crossbow and to this GREAT forum.
I bought an Exomax with the variscope.
I adjusted the variscope at 350 fps and I would like to know what kind of arrow would fit in the 20-30-40-50 feet marks.
I have an arrow Easton XX75 2219, with a 100 gr end.
I adjust it at 20 feet; then I had to get the variscope to 250 fps to be barely on the line for 30, 40 and feet to be on the spot.
Any advice ?
Thank you for the attention....................................Gerald................/

Your seting up your scope wrong....
Read the paper work and then try again. Do a search on Varazone and you will also find the info ya need. Digger has posted the proper way to sight in your Varazone scope.
Easy way is crony your first two or three shoots and then set your speed ring to match the FPS. Then sight in and all should fall in place....

Hi again,
I found the post from digger:
"If you are using a varizone scope, set up as follows:
set the cross hairs for 20 yds using the elevation and windage knobs. When your on the bulls eye go to 40 yds. Now using the second dot below the cross hair sight in using only the speed ring faster speed or slower till your on the bulls eye again. now you will be on the money at all the dots from 10 yds to 50 yds." digger dixit
So What did I do the wrong way ?
1-At 20 yards, I shot 3 arrows using the cross hair, with the up-down left-right knobs.
2-At 40 yards, I shot with the second dot below the crosshair, with 3 arrows; they where hitten very low:
3- I redo No 3, I adjusted toward the lower velocity, with the comopensation ring of the fps
3-I finished at the velocity of 250 fps ... and still a bit lower to the center of the bull at 40 yards

The varizone scope has a crosshair that can be set for 20 or 30 yds, the top mark is 10 yds shorter either 10 or 20 yds, the rest are in 10 yd increasments.
I set my xhairs for 20 yds. From 20 yds zero in to the bull.Don't worry about the speed ring.
Now move to 40 yds sight in the scope using only dialing the speed ring. once your on the bull, you will be sighted in from 10 to 50 yds as the speed ring gets closer to 350 fps the scope magnification gets closer to 4 power.
Some 3Ders will sight in starting at 30 yd as some targets are set to 55 yds.

geraldbergeron, I hope that you are shooting at 20 to 50 yds and not the 20 to 50 feet you mentioned in your post.

Hi Digger,
I shot at 20 and 40 yards ( not feet...sorry for that written mistake).
I do not know what the problem is; I followed the procedure by the book...).
I will see my dealer with that and see what he will say about that.
Thank you for advices and attention.

geraldbergeron, something is drastically wrong if your Max is shooting slower than a Vixen. with a 450 gr bolt you should still be shooting well over 300 fps. Check your brace height , is the string between the 2 lines on the rail about 1 1/2" above the riser? Your speed should be around 350 fps with a 350 gr bolt. Find an archery shop with a chronograph and test it. If its still at 250 fps, get hold of Excal and they will suggest a cure.
