SPLINTERS ON LIMBS !!!

Post by GREYWOLF »

:?:   Was just putting a coat of wax on my max , and when I went to rub it on the limbs I got a sliver of glass in my hand !! Upon further inspection I found a total of 6 on both limbs. Not real large ones but still they were there, on the top and bottom of the limb edges , from the base of each limb to the tips. Now this bow has mabey 200 shots thru it ! , and it in no way has been mistreated or dry fired. and with only 4 days till opening day I am not sure if it is safe ???? has any one else came across this problem and if so what did you do ??? THANKS GREYWOLF

GREYWOLF sorry to read about a limb problem 4 days before opening season for ya. Reckon the best and safest thing to do is get hold of Excalibur ASAP, and don't use it intill ya talk with them on the safty issue....

I have a Max and just looked at it really good after your post and things look ok as best I can tell. I only have about 50 or so shot's with it.

I bet you guys are shooting the Gold Tip Laser 2's.

I think the Laser 2's are too light of a bolt to be shot from the Exomax.

Go with a heavier bolt set-up!...

just my opinion

Greywolf,

Get a hold of Excalibur and I'm sure they will replace the limbs in time for you go hunting. I you are not taken care of right away come and see me at my store in Burlington and I will replace them. My number there is (905) 333-4545.

I have been shooting Gold Tip arrows out of my crossbow for months now and have not had any troubles with them. There has been an issue with some of the strings lately and after talking with Excalibur they feel that it may have a bearing on the limbs. I am waiting to hear from them on this issue.

Best regards,
Sam

Yes I do shoot the gold tips, but I discoverd the weight problem, and all my bolts are between 365 and 368 grains, and none of the light one were ever shot. Thanks DT10SAM but I work at an excal dealer, and will be getting a hold of them this AM. and will keep you posted, GREYWOLF

:D Just spoke with EXCAL and was told that I should take some emery cloth to the edges just to smooth them out, and unless they are big slivers or cracked off pieces, it should be fine . It could be just a set that wasent sanded smooth at the factory, but if it gets worse they will rush me a set of new ones , I love there costumer support they do take care of there people. I will follow up after I do it and shoot it some more today GREYWOLF

Wow guys... I just bought my Max last weekend with the Gold Tips. Thanks a thousand times. I'll probably be switching to a heavier bolt. What brand do you guys suggest? Thank you again.
