Bad Deer Hunting Weather

Post by bow hunter »

Man this is some of the worst hunting weather I've seen for the early part of the season. At least that's case in SE Ont. Last week it was like hunting in the tropics with daytime highs in the high 20' and lows in the high teens. This week its monsoon season. For the weekend it looks like I'll have the choice of hunting in rain, high winds, or both. I don't expect to see a lot of deer activity this weekend again.

I though so too, but I am finding that the wind is more of a problem than the rain. In my part of Ontario during the last 10 days the rain has been light at times and doesn't seem to bother the deer one bit during periods when the wind has died down too.

Since I don't have any breathable camo, I have been wearing regular rain gear under my camo. And since it has been relatively warm, I am finding that instread of getting soaked from the outside by rain, I am getting soaked from the inside by sweat!

I know the first week was way too hot but this last week has started to get nice and miserable wich in my oppinion is great for deer hunting. The wind is blowing , it's getting cooler, other than the rain, I like the overcast and even a little drizzle. I find it gets the deer up moving.

I just hope it keeps getting colder and that rain turns into about 2-3 inches of snow!!!

Keep er soft

YOU guys... I am wishing for some Ontario weather... 50 in Pembroke where I learned to hunt... 54 in Kingston where I was born ...66 in Windsor where I last resided in Ontario...AND 88 degrees here in South Florida with the humidity at 70% :x Mostly perspirational not inspirational

Oh for the cold damp drizzle of a rainy Ontario day :( The kind that penetrates and makes you feel like you got arthritis when you don't.

I ran out to the property at lunch today...Checkin some stuff out and returned soakin wet with sweat...But I still gotta say I LOVE gettin out.

Rain or shine...IT'S ALL GOOD :!: :!: :!:
You can take the boy South...
But y'all can't take the North outta him!

Time spent in the tree...is time well spent!

I've seen deer in the rain during the mid november rut. You have too keep your eyes open because you can't hear them coming. Anybody see much movement in the early season?
