Should I buy a x bow for this years deer hunt (FAC on order)

Post by scalder »

Just moved back to canada and had to take FAC course and test. Found out it won't be in my hand until well after deer season. I love to deer hunt and I was wondering if I should buy a x bow excetmax. For this years deer season? Will I be hooked? With a months practice how far will I be accurate too? (I have a compound so not totally new) Thanks a bunch all help would be great.....are they good for taking grouse to?
thanks

I would buy one. Don't need the FAC to have a crossbow. AND it won't take you a month to get good with a crossbow. Unless you're totally terrible, lol. Took me a week or so and I was dead on. I still practice alot from 20-25-30 yards and make sure I can still shoot 4 bolt (arrow) groups in a circle the size of a coffee cup.

If you can shoot a rifle or bow accurately, you can shoot well within a few hours or less! It's learning the distances that takes a little time. If you set up markers/ribbons in the woods at given distances and wait for the deer to arrive within the markers, you'll know the distance the animal is at and use the correct sighting pin. Only go for shots that can take out both lungs or you may be trailing your animal into the next county.
