String Tracker Kit

Post by LoneWolf »

Since there's so much water on the woodlot I decided it was best to put a string tracker on my crossbow to hunt in there this season. Even though I will be sure to limit my shots to 20-25 yards in there I was still a little nervous about loosing a deer in there (pretty hard to track a deer in 1 - 2 feet of water). I don't know how it's gonna work but I'm sure it could help and I know it'll make me feel better knowing that I have a tracker on my crossbow, and that's what really counts. Now I'm all set to go hunt the swampland!...

Mike

What the heck do you want one of those things for? Get yourself one of those tracking 'gators. They're legal, even if you can't use a dog! They'd be a natural in that much water. :D :D :D

Question is will one of those string trackers work on a cross bow ?
Looks like you would be limited to a very near shot .
With all that water and a good hit seams like you could hear the deer go down .

Something to think about: I can understand how string trackers work on vertical bows, where the front of the arrow projects beyond the front of the bow. But how would you use one on crossbow and not have the string get caught on the stirrup?

That's why I was asking if anyone has ever shot their crossbow with one of them.

The problem is that this year there is alot of water on the property that is flooded exept for an elevated area of about 8 acres which is where my stands are. Believe me, it gets really dirty in that bog at some points. Therefore if a deer was ever to take a 200 dash after a hit it could turn into a big headache, so if the tracker does work fine out to 25 yards and I avoid the possible headache well then it works for me. I think 20-25 yards is a good shooting limit in there, you just set up for it, that's all.

I misunderstood you Mike. I thought you wanted the string to lead you to the deer.

Now I've got it. You want to use it to reel him back to you out of the bog. I sure wasn't smart enough to think of that!

For sure let us know how it works.

Lonewolf I tried one on my exomax, I duct taped it to the bottom of the rail, worked great out to 20 yds.
