My 2 Cents

Post by Big John »

Hi Fellow Xcrossbow Hunters, and others:

Hunting has been very good so far this year, except for that Bear episode, dam near broke my foot, but kicked butt on Grouse. Anyway I just wanted to tell everyone that please don't wait the whole season to get a "Trophy", then find out that the season is over and you got squat. If all you want is a Trophy then fine, however if it is meat you are interested in, then take what comes, when it comes. I have many Deer on my property and could wait for many outings to get the 'Right" one, but for me, it's for meat first, then Trophy later, if possible. Since October 1, I've taken a small Doe, about 100 lbs., excellent table fare. This weekend I took a small Buck, 4 pointer with 8 inch Antlers and two 3 in points. However he was very large about 160 lbs. I'm sure there was bigger Bucks on the property, but first meat, then Trophy, Maybe. All I want to say is dont miss out on Deer waiting for that special one, sure they are nice, but any deer is a "Trophy", and something to be proud of. I still have one more Tag for doe left and it doesn't matter if she is large or not, just good enough for me. Please have a safe enjoyable Hunt people, and get it done! Meat is Meat. And like me, I hope you can be proud to display any Deer ,no matter the size, with lots of pride!

And congrats to all that have taken Deer so far on here, there have been some good stories and pictures so far. 8)

You sais it man. Last year I passed quite a few does. Ended up with no deer. This year one in the freezer.
