Fred Mickley's Buck

Post by diesel »

Well his PSE Fox Fire was having string problems. I finally got him talked into taking my Exocet hunting. He got off work early last Friday and it was getting a little dark when a buck came in behind him. He had not shot my bow much with the Var-zone scope. The buck was closer than he thought.
Yes he shot over it. That night he call and said he did not like the scope.
He was feeling kind of down like he had lost his edge. Said it would have been the biggest buck we had killed for a long time.
Well he gets up the next morning goes out and sets in a different stand.
He sets there about 30 minutes and a deer snorts at him. He thinks well now he's busted and will not get to see anything.
Just as it starts to get light he hears this buck chasing a doe. He hears them and can sometimes see them through the brush. All this time thinking they will soon smell him and away they will go.
Then it happens the doe goes above him and starts down the old logging path with the buck about ten yards behind. He moves the bow to his left hand so he can get a shot. The doe came down and stop. Stood there and then change directions and went on the other side of the brush pile. He starts think darn after all that and I'm not going to get a shot at his buck. I've listen to these two for over an hour.
Well the buck comes down stops where the doe had stopped and started racking up the ground making a set pad. Fred slowly moves the bow back to the right hand. He can't shoot there's to much junk in the way.
He buck stops and starts back on the does path but decided it need so water before going after the doe. So it did not go on the other side of the brush pile. No it came right down with in 10 yards of the stand and stopped with it's left leg forword. ( Freds shooting at the left side of the deer ) [ BOY dw THAT SCOPE COVER DID BRING US GOOD LUCK]. He shot and the buck dropped, stumbled around got up ran down under the stand . Bumped into the ladder fell down again stumbled around got up ran ten yards and fell down for good.
He shot this deer with a WASP JackHammer 125gr. broad head. He is really sold on the broadhead and thinks Excalibur has one of the finest crossbows out there.
Well my Exocet has killed one nice doe and two very nice Bucks this year. hope you enjoy the pics.
