Why no Harness Guys!!!
Hunting this week with the guys I bow hunt with all season plus a couple of the old timers for shotgun season. It amazes me how many guys still use no harness. I,ve heard every excuss out there. To loud to hook up to tree, to uncomfortable, don't like them, never needed one yet, even heard so what do you do if you fall out just hang there till someone finds you!!!! and I get the stupid looks when I say better than the alternitive.
So how many of you wear a harness. If not why and if what style as in full body, belt etc.

I started wearing one this year, a full body. I hunt from hang-on stands.
Only once have I brought the wrong tree strap for it, and couldn't be bothered coming back to get the right one.
I don't find mine uncomfortable at all. In fact I am more comfortable in a baby gorilla with one on.

I installed a rope from the ground to above the stand and attach to it using a prussic knot so that I'm hooked to the safety system round trip! I wear either a full body harness, or if I forget it I have a chest harness in the feed barrel near the stand. Even if I'm forgetful or in a hurry, I'm always wearing a harness when I'm at the stand!

yeah, bstout, if you have had to make quick exits that many times, why get into a tree? You are just asking for trouble.

We had a guy fall from 20 ft plus. Walked away ! Very lucky. He did hurt his shoulder and had surgery. Still recovering and that was last year he fell. I've had 2 incidents and the harness saved me both times. They say 1 out of 3 hunters will fall from a tree or have an accident involving tree stands. After the fall last year the club I'm in made a harness rule. When we voted in the rule 2 guys voted no. Some just do not get it.
I wear a belt but not a harness.......I have 3 harnesses that came with ladder stands and they are so stiff and a royal pain to put on. I would also think that a harness that is tight enough to keep from jerking me in two if I fell would freeze me to death! I still occasionally hunt from hang on stands, but most of my hunting is from ladder stands......I'd almost have to try and fall out of one of them!!
I wear a chest harness in a tree stand and a belt while hunting from a platform. I also use a top to bottom rope with a prusic knot for platform and fixed portable stands. I use a snap clip with a high working load to attach the harness to a rope, which is tied around the tree. That way it's quiet, and easy to attach and detach. No fumbling around on a stand trying to wrap my harness around the tree and tie it off. That might be a good compromise for people who occasionally have to get down quickly. It's safe, easy to set up, and fast at both ends.
I'd go with a full body harness, but it takes me forever to figure out how to put it on and I'm still able to free myself from a chest harness fairly easily if need be.

Stump. I don't know if you read this post so I'll leave the link to it.
