Phoenix crossbow width

Post by wpahunter- »

I am going to buy myself a new crossbow. (Actually a Christmas present for me ) I have been looking at a number of brands and I am interested in the Excalibur Phonex. There are very few excalibur dealers here in Western PA and I cannot even find a Phoenix to hold. I am really interested in the width of the bow. I cannot find any demensions for this bow besides weight. Also, please share any first hand experience with this bow. I am tired of the wheels and cables of the compound crossbowsbows. Any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Hairy

All Excaliburs are the same width 37" wide, there is a 2 1/2" difference in length from a Vixen to an exomax. All triggers are 3 lb pull. Scopes fit all madels.

And WELCOME to the forum Harry. :D 8)

I'm not sure on this, but I had an exomax, and I found out after I bought it and hunted with it for 4 weeks, it was illegal, being 225 lb. pull. Here in our state, 200 lb. is the max limit. I traded in my Max for a Phoenix. My strings for the Max, fit the Phoenix, and thus, I would say they all are the same width, just the length of the rail is longer. the more you draw it, the more poundage you get. Where are you in W. Pa? I too live in W. Pa. and there is a guy in New Brighton, who deals Excalibur's, Cabela's in Wheeling W.V. is where I first held one. I got mine off of BJ, here on this site, and he is a stand up guy, and if your on here long enough, you'll hear that from everyone who has ever delt with him. He is located in Canada, as are a lot of guys on this forum. Just listen to them, there is a world of crossbow knowledge here, along with some B.S. also, but that is easy to sort out. BJ, Gary, Digger,Wabi, Woody, all seem to spell things out the way they should be. Very helpful fellows. I would not think twice about dealing with BJ again. Do a search, and you will end up with his e-mail address. Butcher

They are a little wider than compounds, but once you get used to shooting one you will hardly notice. About the only time I felt cramped was trying to shoot out of an Ameristep outhouse blind. From my doghouse blind it is fine. Most compound crossbow shooters feel uncomfortable with the width at first, but once they see the speed and accuracy plus feel the trigger pull they forget all about the width.

WPAHUNTER, I also live in Western PA, if you are anywhere near New Castle or Butler let me know and I will meet with you and you can shoot my Phoenix. I just got it this year, great bow, also got it from a great guy by the name of Dan Miller he owns a shop in Sardis Oh, good prices and he treats you like family. Grayarrow
