Hunting update and question from the new guy

Post by doeser »

Thurs we got a good foot of snow. We went in Sat morning to
find very few tracks. At 8:30 spotted a set of deer legs moving
in the brush 30 yards away from my tree stand. Eventually the body
bacame visable. It was a young spikehorn (don't have one to my credit yet) He was unaware of me yet, which gave mt time to get my phoenix
turned toward him. Now he turns toward me and walks in. He stopped
about 20 yards out, then figured something was wrong. He looked up at me frozen in position. Eventually his head went back down but he was straight on to me. Finally he quartered me showing me a front shoulder.
I wasn't waiting any longer. I sliced the heart, cut one lung and found him in a heap about 75 yards away.
I have a question about the phoenix, has anyone noticed were the limb tips are connected to the limbs(on the string side clossed to the stock)
the paint is flaking .Is there a glue or bonding again that the paint doesn't stick to.It's only a very tiny spot at the seam exposing the black underneth.

Congrat's on your harvest !

As for the flaking problem .... sounds pretty normal to me .... all my Excaliburs have some sort of flaking of the finish here and there but mostly from the abuse I put them thru in the bush and regualar shooting .

Post a picture of the area in question .... the Excal techs can give you a better answer ...

My exomax has the same flaking at the exact same spot as your pheonix.
I was told that it's normal. The camo paint doesn't stick to the mag tip glue to well.
