O/T-GoldieLocks and the Polar Bear

Post by Grizzly »

Was out wandering around the property and found these large prints in the back field.

So I thought I better head back to the house and get myself a rifle to hunt down this huge beast. I get back into the house and lo and behold, it looks like the wife already found the beast and learned to tame it.

Then the wife seemed to think it was funny to sic the beast on ME!! YIKES!!

Thank's for the Christmas wishes Kirk. Also like to wish you and your's a Merry Christmas and a Safe and Happy New Year.
Yeah Wabi, pepper spray may just tick her off, and it takes a LOT of treats to satisfy her. She loves the shotgun hunt, as the neighbours place turns into the local butcher shop and guess where she hangs out all week???
Someone once dropped off a roadkill deer here once and she ate every inch by herself in four and a half days ( she slept right on the carcass at night to protect it).
Anything or anyone tried to get it, LOOK OUT!!!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!

Is that an Akbash dog?

Yes Chris, it is an Akbash. Surprised someone knew about them, not too many around. When we got her had to go through an elaborate interview and NO ANIMALS sold to persons living in populated areas. You also must have livestock fir them to protect, which she does very well. They are VERY territorial and can be outright vicious to anything outside their "pack". She did challenge us a couple times for dominance when she was growing up but we told her who was boss. Definitely not an animal for the timid.

I did a little research on them several years ago while looking for a dog. Great looking dog. Very big, very strong, quick and very loyal to their immediate family. They definately have that "flock guarding" type of personality.

My guess is you don't have to worry about locking the doors with her around :D !!!

When working as a vet tech, I had the pleasure? of dealing with a female kuvasz on several occasions. She was big, and she was mean!!! Just look at her, or walk into the kennel area and she would be bearing her teeth and growling. One time I got trapped in the kennel with her where she challenged me and I had to give her a whack on the muzzle, I always brought a small length of broom handle when dealing with her because she was not to be trusted. Fortunately I was able to keep her away from me long enough to climb over the fence.
