Yikes...That'll definitely make me reconsider before shooting a doe this late in the year. I was actually wondering about the gestation at this time of the season...I guess I now know! Looks like your buddy got three with one arrow!

Congrat on the doe none-the-less. I'm going out tomorrow for the final hunt, but I won't be releasing a shot on a doe after seeing those pic's.

Regards...

They harvest here in some over run agricultual ares till the end of March. Called red tag areas. You should see them then. Very well formed.

i have taken pic off sorry to offend some of you guys. for you guys that dont shoot does that is fine with me

huntman as far as not shooting does after nov30 they are already with young by then so you should not shoot does at all

korey99 the only way you would find the young if you were really looking for them .. we look over gut pile well to see whattheyare feeding on. The young i took pics of were only the size of a piece of deer poop

Golden Eagle we shoot them here till the end of april as well ... it got to the point where we just take the back strap and front shoulders and hind end for meat we dont even gut them we skin em hole and take what we can get ....i dont like doing it but permits were given and i obliged the farmer so not to loose or have any more apple trees damaged

this may offend some but in certain areas it has to be done ...

Good hunting. Nothing wrong with taking a doe this time of year!!! That is life! I don't understand why one would have a problem with this. Deer are overpopulated in many areas, that is the reason for doe tags, so if anything you have helped your local hunting area!
You can take the man out of the woods but you can't take the woods out of the man.

Here in Ohio they are legal until the end of January. You know many of them will be preganant, but I don't really see the harm in taking one. The whole idea of so liberal a doe harvest is to control population.

I don't see any difference in taking a doe before she is bred or after.

That is still three less deer next year either way.

The ony problem it can raise is social..

Anti-hunters will squawl about shooting pregnant "mothers". Of course they will squawl no matter what. Hunt what you want as long as it is legal.

I agree with you 100% Woody. I was going to say the same thing, but didn't, but since you open the can, I'm in.

American Indians use to hunt by the light of the moon. Around here the only way that you can see deer at night is during the winter when the snow is on the ground, and a full moon. You can see dam near a quarter mile like this, or further. That's why their allowed to hunt at night. So therefore most game would have been pregnant at this time. Been done like this for 40,000 years.

I feel it's a moot thing. If you kill the deer before she is bred, she would not have young to begin with. If your shooting does, and use the meat, early late, no defference in my opinion, except..................if you're hunting a area with a very low deer population, than I agree 100% with huntman do your part, to get the numbers up. I hear guys complain about not seeing deer, but when doe season comes, they shoot big, small, they shoot them all. But there are some areas here in Pa. that are overrun, and the Pennsylvania Game Commission, really wants you to take the mature bred doe. I counted 7 dead does in a 7 mile stretch on the way to the airport the other day. Those are deer that are going to rot along side the road. So I would say the Nov rule, would only apply to your area. Just my 2 cts. Greyowl, did you get my pm about the shafts?
