Can you guess the weight of this doe?

Post by DesertRat »

This is a doe that old kid let the air out of a few weeks ago. It is the biggest doe I have ever seen in real life. We placed a vixen on it to give some perspective. The real size came in the depth of her chest (if only all women had this). If you look at how wide she is compared to the limbs of the Vixen, you get an idea of how big she really was.

Any guesses? Closest one gets a cyber hand shake.

I'm looking at a photo of a doe I shot this year, and she was a monster. I laid my bow down in a similar way. I'd say 170-175 lbs.

I should have been more clear. I assume you guys are guessing dead weight, no guts. What do you think her live weight was? (we weighed her whole)

I'd say 160 hanging the way she is, and 201 on the hoof.
That's a big deer hanging there by any standards.

Sometimes a doe will be barren. This allows for extra growth, not having to grow or nurture fawns. That's what can make 'em really big after a few years.

You are all very close. It was in fact a doe and not a shed buck ( we checked). According to our scales, 227 live weight (errr dead weight). I believe she was around 170 empty weight but can't remember for sure. Still a very respectable weight for a doe in my eyes. The picture does not do her justice. When I saw it in person, I could not believe the depth of her chest.

Anyhow, I enjoyed sharing the pics with everyone her e.

Only 9 months, minus 1 day to go

Does that make me the winner of the cyber shake? Sure wish you were bill gates, and was giving a million on this one! But a shake is just fine.
