hope you rewarded your landowner, to give them something nice to remember when you come around again

i gave mine a nice apple pie from Unger's. (In Hyde Park if your in the area. If not in the area, you will have to settle for something that will be less appealing.)

Mr Dynamite , Apple pie is sure great , but if I have a good season I would through in a deer ham measure just to show him his good hospitably, that is if he ate deer .

Ya i gave the one owner a fresh frozen 22lb turkey and a plate of homemade cookies, and i gave the other one a bottle of Crown Royal and a Pointsetta, and the third owner six custard dounuts cause thats all she wanted!!!!! speedball.............

My buddy owns the 200 acres where I hunt. He made me agent for the property which basically gives me the same powers as the him. Whatever I want to do with the property I can do, within reason. I also advise him with the odd legal issue.

I'm on the property quite often, at my trailer. I keep an eye on the place and chase off the trespassers, let him know if somebody is dumping on the property (which WAS happening).

I also make it more difficult for the 4 and 2 wheelers to gain access...Drop a couple of trees here and there at strategic locations and put up a couple of heavy duty gates that I acquired. This year I will put some fencing up if my back is okay.

Our understanding is, I have somewhere to hunt/relax and he has somebody that is looking after his property. Mutual reward.

I f I'm not hunting on my own property, I'm hunting next door on public land.

I don't have a junk yard dog to protect my place, but I did have a Game Warden that wanted to hunt on our land. What better of a protector to have.

Yes WE rewarded all land owners whos property we hunt on.
We have a hunt night and all landowners are invited to attend.
It is a very successful night and you will be surprised on how many will not except you picking up the cheque.
They appreciate what you are doing for them.
You just have to offer them something in return for your privelidge to hunt on their property.
Be honest and respect their property goes a long way.

I've got 4 main farms I hunt for turkey. I gave 2 of them a domestic turkey (frozen) and the one older lady a poinsetia. The other one just got a card. I only gave him a card because last year he gave heck for giving him a turkey! TC

We split our deer equally between hunt members, and keep one extra portion for the farmers/landowners. We also give some bottles of homemade wine as well. That is a good idea Don, we have a whole deer for a spit party next summer, and I might suggest we invite the landowners for a feed, and a few drinks.

I try to give all my land owners a gift at the end of the season but i find that they don't really want anything. Somethimes i feel that i am bothering them more then anything. I have one farmer that i shotgun hunt for deer on his 1000 acres, everytime i go there with a bottle of homeade wine or whatever else he is always working which is normal for a farmer but he always takes the time to talk to me for 30 mins plus.... it's great becuase i have a good relationship but i feel guily leaving knowing that i took him away from his work. No matter how many times i offer to help, he laughs and tells me i'd be more in his way then anything else. In the last 10 years of hunting i can say that all my relationships with my landowners have become friendships more then just a guy that hunts on his/her property!

i help the guy that i hunt on his land around his farm. i used to buy him a 40 of crown royal but then became better friends with him and now hunt with him at least once a week. instead of buying him booze i built two 16 foot tall duck blinds overlooking his duck ponds on a 100 acres he owns away from his house. i also help him with simple chores such as working in his deer pen and general maintenance on the equipment. i think it shows my apppreciation much more than a monetary gift.

The 5 of us put in $40 each and buy something for the farm(for him) and something for the house (for her). We also have them come to Windsor and take them to dinner and to the Casino. They really appreciate it. It is well worth it. We have been hunting their land for 22 yrs. They let us use their home like it is our own. They've actually become good friends of ours. What's really nice is that we are the only ones who hunt their land. It's hard to find that now a days.

The one property I hunt the landowner asks for a bottle of scotch in return. I also add some venison if I had a sucessful year. IN return I hunt his property and anyone who asks to hunt his land has to call me and the decision is mine.
