new to crossbows: need help

Post by mo-skeeter »

I will be getting my first cross bow soon and only have about 300.00 to spend on it. Can anyone give me some info on these xbows.

1] barnett revolution package s.g. has factory 2nd for 230.00

2] horton explorer tr175 package s.g. has it for 270.00

3] horton legend II used 100.00

I would love to have an excalibur, I just can not swing that much $ now. Thanks for any info. I love this forum!

I'd contact bj and see what kind of a deal he could give me on a Vixen before I bought anything. ( joneswl@vianet.ca )
If I had to choose between Barnett & Horton I'd go with Horton. The used one might be a good deal if it's in good shape and don't need repairs. You could get it and take the remainder of the money to start saving for an Excalibur.

At Archer's Nook the Vixen Deerhide Brown is shown at $336 U.S.

From what I've read on the forum it is a very good crossbow. If you decided to upgrade later - you would have a very good bow to sell. Do a search on the Vixen and do some reading - you will get some very good reviews. I shoot the Exocet 2002 175#, but it was a toss up against the Vixen when I did my study and I just happened on a good deal on the Exocet.

Good luck in getting your crossbow - and good hunting,
