Vari-zone question???

Just put a vari-zone scope on my new exocet. It is hitting fine with the crosshairs at 20 yds. I'm not sure what speed to set the dial too. The windage adjustments just works on the crosshairs. Is this right?

Without touching the elevation or windage adjustments, go to fourty yds and shoot a bolt, and use the speed ring faster or slower to hit the bull.
When you are on at 20 and 40 yds, all your marks are on.
