Borden, Barrie & Surrounding Area

Post by Maritimer »

I was just wondering if there were any forum members that live around Borden Ont. I am going to CFB Borden for a 5 1/2 week course and I while I there I would like to get together with some other members of the forum. We could go for a coffee and talk about crossbows and hunting. I will be there from the 17 April to the 26 May. :D

Without the regs right in front of me, I do not know if non-residents can hunt turkey in Ontario. But if they can you would be here when turkey season is open! So you may be able to do more than talk about hunting!

That would be nice, that is a dream of mine to hunt turkeys. We do not have any here on Vancouver Island but I have to admit I read everything I can about them. I think turkeys would be such a challenge. I wouldn't mine just getting a chance to get into the woods to see them. :D

That would be great. I was planing to do some bear hunting at the end of April with my hunting buddy but ended up having to go on this course. I would sooner do this course now for the next one is this fall and I don't want to miss moose season. :D

Yes, non-residents are allowed to hunt turkeys in Ontario, providing they have passed the turkey course and have purchased their non-resident's small-game and turkey licenses.

It's too bad you weren't gonna be within the Ottawa area Maritimer, I would have taken you out to try and get you a bird. But I'm still learning myself about turkey hunting...

Thank you very much for the offer LoneWolf but maybe I can get a rain check. The next time Im in Ottawa I will have to look you up for it would be nice to meet someone else that hunts with a crossbow. I think I am the only one around here that hunts with one, as soon as I get my wife the Phonix then there will be two.

Adrian J Hare I have not had the course, but I would really like to get a chance to meet someone from the forum. I would love just to get out in the woods, but to actually watch someone hunt turkeys that would be a bonus. :D

Maritimer , I sent you a PM and then thought of this,,,,

April 22-23 in Oshawa
May 7 in Toronto

they are holding a Turkey hunting Corse and it would be in your best interest to try and get to one of these. After you take it , you'll never have to take it again. You can then put a smacking on one of these Ontario Toms. The number to reserve a spot at one of these corses is 705- 748-6324

This is the hardest thing for Non Res to get as most have to travel to Ontario to get it , you are all ready here
