Hi --do you find the 2x10 gives enough surface area for your Bum?--The rest of your idea seems very good. If you`re going to use a cushion --why not use carriage bolts from top down -----and just crank the heads just below the surface? I find that I need a big area for my Bum or I am wiggling and squirming something awful in a very short time.

That should eliminate any noise when you stand or sit!
Got me thinking about perhaps a steel frame and a net type seat. I'll have to do some scrounging for square tubing.

My advice when building your own treestands if possible make a very large seat and make it extra close to the platform. Much more confortable if your knee is past 90 degrees and having a full seat that offers more then your bum is great and not something you get with factory treestands. IMO no seat is too big and the extra weight (minimal) is worth it for the many extra hours you'll last and enjoy in the woods for the small effort it takes to put up.
