Just brought my wife back home from the hospital.... I went to pick her up. This is the second time in two days she has been there. There were 21 people their .one guy got hit in the head with a baseball. He passed out on the floor of the hospital.... on person spoke up and said can we get some help here.... the triage nurse responds sorry honey we can only do one thing at a time.... that said I know the hospitals are busy... but when I went back to check on my wife.... there were 4 nurses and a doctor discussing there week end parties...and another doctor walking around looking at the walls... I was there for over 40 min with my wife in the back room in beds.... not once did those nurses or doctors ever look at some one.... oh ya the guy that got hit on the head with a ball... The patients waiting to see the doctor had to get a wheelchair and put him in it... the nurse wanted to know how far away he was when he got hit his wife told her and she said he will live... tomorrow I will sit down and write another letter to the hospital.... but right now I am pissed....

Man I know how you feel. Went to emerge on monday, the high school called saying my son had a broken shoulder/ or dislocated arm. Hit emerge at 12;00 he finally got to see a Dr. at 5:20 ( they finally took him for xrays at 2:30 ) and we are informed it is a broken collar bone put the arm in a sling and said bye bye. Come back in 4 weeks for more xrays and no contact sports for 8 weeks

There was fellow next to us that needed some fingers stitched up, he said he arrived about 10 am and he got in just before my son. So much for all the extra money McGuinty takes from my pay check to fix these problems

I know how you feel. Our local hospital is similar. Last time I went for stitches in a cut I had to wait a couple hours for the shift change because the doctor on duty didn't like to do stitches. Most people refer to the ER as a "band-aid station" because they aren't very efficient and if the injury is bad they call one of the Cincinnati hospitals and have the patient transferred by helicopter.
The last time I had a bad cut I had my wife drive me to the next county's hospital because I know they are better. The drive took about 30 minutes, and the emergency department had my hand stitched up in less than 20 minutes! The triage nurse wasn't even finished with the questions when the doctor was heading toward me with the tray in his hands. The doctor was a real person, too. I told him I lived far away and would prefer to take the stitches out myself when they were ready. He said he would use a "running" stitch and showed me how to remove it when it was ready. Cut the thread in two place & pull it all out at once! Even gave me the scissors & tweezers to do it with. The big delay was that they wanted me to stay for 1/2 hour after treatment to be sure I didn't have any reactions to the shots that went along with it all. If I'm injured again and need ER care you can bet I'll head for that hospital if I'm concious! Pretty bad when you can drive 20+ miles each way and still be home sooner with better care!

Woody,We have government ran health care, each province has there own version. Here in Ontario we have OHIP ( Ontario Health Insurance plan ). At one time we paid a premium every so many months > The rate depended on wether you were single , married, kids. It changed that no premiums were needed.

With the system failing our current provincial/Liberal Govt ran by Dalton McGuinty said more cash was needed and we would have to now pay a premium ( he would not use the word Tax ). It is taken right off your pay cheque, your new tax on health care is base on your income. The darn thing about it is that no where on my pay cheque does it show me what I am paying into for my health care tax. I forget but it seems like the max was $1500 per year.

health care

Visit any emergency room in any hospital here in the states, and you'll find the same thing. Don't blame it on socialized medicine. I don't see Canadians dying at a rate any faster than U.S. citizens. To put things in perspective, England, which also has socialized medicine, spends half, per capita, what the U.S. spends for health care. What do they get for their money? Their poorest citizens have a life expectancy longer than our richest citizens, and the U.S is at the bottom of the infant mortality chart.

We'd all be better off going to a veterinarian! I'm serious!! You will get looked after a heck of a lot faster, and with more care and compassion!!

The same thing has happened to my uncle, he lives/works on his farm up near ottawa, and has injured himself many times. the most recent injury was a severe gash/cut inbetween his thumb and pointer finger. I was vistiting at the time, and he comes running in, with blood all over the place, and my father said "Wrap it up, were going to the hospital" my uncle told my dad how long the wait is and that he would probably bleed to death. Luckily, he had his wife, who is a nurse stitch it up. he was lucky, because she is almost never around during the day, when most of his injuries occure.

anyways, just thought ide share how dissapointed i am aswell.
