How many bolts....
Hey gang , how many bolts do u take with u while ur out hunting ?
I just made a little quiver...nice ....light, safe.... but can only hold 2 bolts. That should be enough.....right ? I mean , if I go through two bolts at a deer , shame on me. Only took 3 when I hunted stick bow and compounds.
2's enuff ?

I carry 2 or 3 hunting bolts and an old aluminum bolt in my hip quiver to uncock the bow with.

When still hunting, I only have the one arrow that is ready for launch. I don't like the noise or the extra size of a quiver and arrow while trying to be stealthy.
When hunting out of a tree I'll have one or two extra arrows. I prefer just the one. I feel I won't need any more than that. If I miss(which I may not know for certain until getting out of my stand and inspecting the spot where the deer had been standing), the deer is unlikely to allow me to stand up, c0ck my bow, take an arrow from the quiver, put it in place, shoulder the bow and finally shoot. I could see spining a deer as the number one reason for carrying an extra arrow.
Although......I guess another possibility/ reason for carrying more than one arrow would be a miss, very early in the morning with plenty of hunting remaining.

You can take the man out of the woods but you can't take the woods out of the man.

I carry three or four for the day. Since I hunt within 1/2 mile of the house, if I come back to the house for lunch I will leave the quiver in the stand and carry one bolt while stalking on the way back to the house.
