Another new kid on the block
I've lurked on this forum on and off for a while and finally decided to join. My wife has a Vixen and I've enjoyed shooting it at the range but I've never hunted with it. Last week she bought me a Phoenix for my birthday so I'll be joining her at the farm this fall for some deer hunting!
BTW, I live in Kitchener, home of Excalibur, and their crossbows have been legendary around here for a long time. I drive by the Excalibur factory on the way to and from work everyday and I always thought "someday...". Well I finally have one of my own now!

Did you get remarried? I know that I have been away from the forum for a while and my memory may be failing me, but, for some reason, I remember that you were in the unattached camp a few years back.wabi wrote:Welcome!!!
Sounds like you have a good wife! I'm still trying to convince mine the money I spend on hunting equipment should be considered part of the grocery budget.

Thank so much for all the warm welcomes! This will be my first year taking advantage of archery season. I've taken all my deer in the past with a rifle and we're still looking forward to that season too. My wife and I own a hunt camp near Huntsville in the Muskoka's. We mostly hunt deer, bear and grouse up there. Closer to home we hunt geese and ducks on farms near Elmira, Breslau and Haysville (for those of you who know Southern Ontario). My wife hunted the Breslau farm last year with her Vixen and while she had a couple of very close calls she ended the season empty handed (but she said she enjoyed every minute of it!). All three farms are good prospects for deer.
Good luck to all as deer season rapidly approaches!
