Mechanicals vs. Fixed

Post by Moreland »

Who shoots what and some imput please. I shoot the NAP Spitfires 100gr, but would maybe like to switch to a fixed blade broadhead this year. I was just wondering what everybody was shooting and what fixed blade broadheads seem to shoot like field points? Thanks, Peter.

Check my post on slicktrick you cannot beat them for accuracy. I have shot spitfires over the years and they are very accurate. However, NAP told me that no crossbow would open the spitfire blade because they had been tested at 400fps. I was told only last week by NAP that they have an Exomax that they have ran some tests and it is inconclusive whether they open off the bow. Their suggestion is to shoot them through paper first to make sure they don't open. I have also been told that the slicktrick has less surface area than the spitfire in the closed position, this is why it flies so well.

I love the Slick Tricks, but they can not compare to the hole that a Wasp Jac-Hammer w/ 1 3/4" blade leaves. They shoot very well. Just use two bands.

I use G-5 Montecs for a fixed blade, SlickTrick for a replacable blade, and JakHammers for a mechanical. All group well, but the JakHammer cuts a wicked hole through deer! Going back to JakHammers this fall.

Ive shot muzzy 3 & 4 blade, Slick Trick, Shuttle T locks, Wasp Boss, Thunder Heads and Montec G5s. They all fly well. As in most BH they have thier Pros and Cons. G5s are on the soft side but easy to sharpen the others have replacements blades Muzzy comes with one set (for one BH)of pratice blades so you dont have to use the sharp ones. As far as field point acc. Slicks came close on Gold tips Lazer II bolts 4 inch fletching. From my trials & Tribulations with these blades I like the G5s and Slicks. Thunderheads hit hard and make big holes for a multi fix blade. I found I can make anyone of them fly good by the way I offset the fletching and what insert I use Brass or Alm. & FOC & feathers vs Plastic vanes.

Thanks guys, I think I am going to either stick with the Spitfires or go to the Slick Tricks. How easy are the Slick Tricks to order? Good results? I have shot Spitfire 2-Blades, but they do not make them anymore so I will have to buy the 3-Blade versions now. I may just stick with mechanicals because I have had good luck with them before.
