That's going to take a chunk of money away from LeBaron's. I guess Bass Pro opened in Toronto so Cabela's figures Montreal is the best bet. I'll drive 2 hours to check it out!!!

hi

Mirabel from Montreal is about 30 to 40 min north

and for the people in Ontario (Ottawa and region)
I think if you pass by hawksburry you will save about 20 to 30 min
instead of going by Montreal and then go north

Michel
what time is it? time to go hunting

Well that is good news. I am glad to see them getting into the market. It sure will help keep prices in line. I always felt L-B---- overcharged hunters for too many years. It is a shame they never really got behind hunting and fishing the way the two American companies have. It is great to walk into a store that has pride in hunting and is not afraid to show great trophy animals. I feel the two US companies give us some great press and help to keep the political climate in balance.

Heard/read rumour today that Cabela's has changed their mind and are not coming to Mirabel, QC anymore. Another rumour is that Bass ProShop might take it's location in Mirable.

The above link shows a page for Mirabel, but if you back track on the web link or go directly to their web page for proposed future stores, then the spot for Mirabel is gone.
Old Indian saying, if a leaf falls from a tree in the woods the turkey will see it, the deer will hear it, the bear will smell it, the moose will not eat it, but be on the look-out for LeGrand.

Cabela's in the West

Post by ehntr »

Cabela's are building now in Balzac, just N of Calgary AB. This may be the first Cabela's to open in Canada........if the Mirabel site doesn't open soon. On another note, those who are familiar with SIR of Winnipeg MB......Cabela's has bought out SIR and is selling Cabela's products out of SIR. The SIR name is still being retained as some sort of partership......for now. The SIR catalogue is now a Cabela's/SIR catalogue............shipping comes from Canada, not the US......which is not how BPS operates.

I like Cabelas. Lot more reasonable than Gander Mountain. I have both within 20 minutes. [examples]

RCBS Dies
Cabelas 25.00
Gander 39.00

Federal Blue Box ammo
Cabelas 14.00
Gander 20.00

Powder
Cabelas 22.00
Gander 25.00

Trigger pull gauge
Cabelas 20.00
Gander 25.00

Just some of the things I have looked at and compared lately.
I like Cabelas. I really liked our old Mom and Pop shops too but they have dissappeared with the big ones moving in. They couldnt compete.

Ehntr - Do you have a link for SIR? Cabela's? I'd love to save the shipping (brokerage fee) and duty. I realize the price will be higher but I'll bet it's not much different and a lot more predictable.

If you're not part of the solution, you might be part of the problem.

Bass Pro has announced a store opening in Montreal, currently scheduled for the fall of 2009.
The approximately 150,000 square foot store will be the signature anchor for the state-of-the-art 1.4-million square foot Lac Mirabel retail entertainment complex located along Highway 15 outside Montreal.

On the way home from Florida noticed a sign for a new Bass Pro in the Toledo area, within a 1/2 hour from the Cabelas in Dundee MI. Stopped at the Cabelas and it looked like it had been ramsacked in the hunting area. Don't know if they had some sort of turkey hunting sale or what, but they were out of stock on a lot of stuff.
