What ever it was I'd be racking the slide on my AR-15 and pumping rounds...

That's why I dont use a light unless I have to. The only scare I ever had walking in the dark was the time I stepped on a skunk! I actually was within a foot or two of a skunk and it hissed like a cat (which I thought it was until I flipped the light on) and it just ran off. It didn't even give me a free sample of cover scent.

I here you bstout, some of the fields I hunt you can only use a bow or a shotgun with buckshot. About 6 years ago I was heading back to the truck when I stopped to look at a doe and a fawn when all of a sudden I see a blast and then felt pain in my shoulder. To make a long story short I had been shot and I had to get 4 pellets taken out of my shoulder and arm. Now when I come out of the woods I use a flash light and also use a small red bicycle strobe light on my backpack.

Thanks for the tip. I always walk in without the aid of a flashlight. Never thought of getting shot at. Better safe than sorry. Tom

I use a small red strobe light . They are 1 7/8" dia. x 1/2" thick ; cost a buck ( ha, ha , ha ) and come with the watch batteries installed .You can find them at some of the " dollar stores " . They have a clip on the back so they simply slid on to rim of a hat or whatever . They're good too , for the kids when they are riding their bikes after dark .
