New Member Introduction
Hi - I just joined after a week of reading as many of the posts as I could - I still haven't got to the end - only on page 68 My name is Hal
I have learned alot of valueable information here and I am looking at buying either a Phoenix or an Exocet -
I am new to crossbowing but not hunting with firearms - I am 31 5' 6" and married - My wife and I live near San Antonio TX on a small acreage and I am an avid whitetailer from Iowa orginally
My wife says I can get my crossbow in a week or so - I can't make up my mind on the Phoenix or to go with the Exocet - after much reading I can't go wrong with either - If it were me only I'd go with the Exocet but I have to think about my wife and the lesser dw - 6 one half or a dozen - for now we'll have to share a crossbow unless she starts hoggin' it
We'll plan on plenty of target shooting and if I can find anyone round these parts I'd like to try my hand at 3d shooting - as far as hunting just whitetails and maybe some hogs if I can get away and hunt another part of Texas
I'm sure I will have questions but thus far I am using the "search" and it's working well in answering my questions
Regards

Welcome to the forum!
I'm a Phoenix user, and recommend it highly. I'm 5'-6" tall, and even with the rope cocker the Phoenix is the most comfortable to use. I've been suffering with lower back pain (disc problems) for the last week or so, and I'm not sure I could get the extra reach to handle more than the Phoenix. The Phoenix is plenty for deer if you put the arrow in the right place, and the lighter bow might lead to a little more practice which could mean a little better accuracy.
You can't go wrong with any of the Excaliburs, so get whichever one you like best and have fun!!!!!

Had one, but don't need it most of the time. The present pain is from a degenerative condition and usually only causes a problem once a year or so, and then it's temporary. Been about a week since it acted up, and I can use the rope aid without much of a problem now. Pulling the rope wasn't the problem - getting the hooks on the string was.deerman wrote:WABI you need to get the Crankaroo;I had to go to it and it is a breeze to use.Saves the body pain.
I couldn't bend down to reach the string with my foot in the stirrup. I had to put the butt of the stock against my belly and pull the string back to put the hooks on.

Welcome to the forum Texas Dirt Devil. I was in the same boat that you are in right now for I wanted a bow that both my wife and I could both shoot. I ended up buying the Exocet 200 well guess what my wife could not draw it the last inch. She really enjoyed shooting it but she did not like the fact she could not cock it when she was out hunting. I ended up buying the Phoenix for her and she just loves it. I noticed that when I go out hunting and she is not with me I end up taking the Phoenix because of its size.

I use my 4-wheeler to get it to the parking area where I have a hoist to lift the deer into my truck.Once home I have a electric winch in the ceiling on my garage.mikeflo wrote:Hey just a question, If you guys have the lower back pain and trouble drawing the bow how do you get the deer out of the woods in to your truck ..ect...????
