GPS CHOICE

Post by lucky strike »

HI FELLAS, I'VE WAITED A LONG TIME TO GET MY PERMIT TO HUNT WITH
THE CROSSBOW-I'M NOW A HAPPY HUNTER AND GLAD TO JOIN THIS SITE!
AM LOOKING FOR A GOOD GPS THAT WILL ALLOW ME TO GET TO MY SPOTS USING THE COMPASS PAGE-I HAVE A MAP 12 AND IT WORKS WELL BUT I HAVE TO BE MOVING AT A GOOD CLIP TO MAKE THE POINTER MOVE. HARD TO DO IN HEAVY COVER.
I'D APPRECIATE SOME SUGGESTIONS.
THANKS,LS

Lucky, buy a good compass. This will tell you the direction you are facing. For all the info you could ever use about GPS recievers go to www.geocaching.com and check out the forums. Do a search and you will get great info. These guys take GPS receivers very seriously. Maybe even try a couple of geocaches and you will learn how to use yours better.

Hope this helps

Yes, a compas will fix that just keep it around your neck. Thats what I do when in thick cover or on the side of a steep hill. Once you have found north simply rotate your GPS to where it says north and you dont have to be moving at all.
If it feels good, DO IT.
