My Exocet is shooting 250fps according to the Varizone scope

So I had it sighted in at 20 yards and today went out and adjusted the speed setting for the 30 yard triangle and it had to be lowered to 250 to raise the impact of the arrow. The shaft weight is 330 grains & the broadhead is 100 so the total weight is 430 grs. Oh I'm still using the factory string but will replace it next year with a fastflight string. Seems might slow compared to everyone elses speed.

Sorry I forgot to mention its the Exocet. I did change the string 2 years ago and the brace height is probally off (the shaft at 30-40 yards look like I've shot them from an angle) but from what I understand its a problem trying to adjust for that. I edited the post now to show its the Exocet.

I am shooting a combined bolt broadhead weight of around 450-475 grains and my proper setting on my varizone is 305-320 FPS.

Shoots accurate out to 50 yards.

Edit: I forgot to mention it is a 200 lbs Exomag. It looks like I have it set on around 315 fps. I am using a beeman 20 inch bolt with a 100 grain four bladed muzzy.

Thats what I was thinking mine should be shooting give or take. But jeepers over 50+fps seems like I have a major speed loss.

My varizone scope is set at the last zero of the 300 mark.....so I'm guessing around 310 to 315 fps. This is on my Exocet 200, Excal string Lazer 2's with 4 inch vanes and brass inserts. Friend of mine has same bow, only he is shooting same arrow with 5 inch vanes and alum inserts and he is shoooting 325 fps on his varizone.

I'm guessing it's the older 175# Exocet. If it has mag-tips the fastflight string will add a few fps. With that weight arrow, I'd expect velocity to be around 290 fps from the 175# Exocet. If you have any accessories like string silencers, they will slow it down. I believe there was a 165# carved limb Exocet, too. If that's the one DO NOT use fastflight unless you plan to buy new limbs! It would probably get around 275 fps with that weight arrow.
As long as the bow shoots accurately I wouldn't worry too much about what the speed ring says. They are just meant to be a general guide to speed up the sight-in process.

I agree..I have a 200lb Exomag and I have my varizone set on 325 for ground blind shooting and. I dont even know if its shootin that fast or not its just a reference point for me.. when Im up in a tree I turn it to the top 350...From my testing and shooting this puts me right on in a tree 15- 20 ft up...Gold tips 22inches, brass inserts in frt, 125 grain montec, wrapped with blazer vanes.with arrow wieght of 440-445 grains...Its a deadly comboooooooooo.

mines at 300 with the 430gr bolts and FFF string.. with my excel on and the 430gr bolts mine only shot 278-280fps

also, everyone aims a little different.

You believe right Wabi. That's the bow I own and use as my primary. Although I have put new mag tips on her and now use a FFF string. I do not have a chrony and haven't shot a bolt through it with my "new" Exocet, but I estimate around 270-285 FPS. My carved tips are now spares for my Exocet or Wolverine, whatever limbs go first - if they ever do.

I got a Varizone just last week,I love it.I sighted in at 20 like they say,at 50 I turned it down to the three on 300.I am useing 430 grains on my Paradox.Bullseye every time.

With my Exocet 200 I set the power ring to the 3 on 325 to get proper trajectory at range. This is with the factory arrows with 5 inch vanes and 125 grain Spitfire broadheads or field points. I just changed scopes this morning and found that the new scope zeroed at the exact same power setting, so they must be pretty close in magnification from one scope to the next.
