pulled the trigger (AGAIN)

Post by Quickshot »

Well it happened for me last night at 6:30, I pulled the trigger on a nice 8 point while he was checking his scrape line. :D :D I will fill in the details later with pics as I am writing this from work. More later.

I tried to put this into the trophy room but was having some trouble, SO!!
here it is
On Thursday evening after work I went into a new spot I had only been to once this year. Two back to back fields, one of alfalpha and the other bean. I set up on the alfalpha side which is upwind of the bean field and waited. At 6:00pm two does came into the bean field, they were not very calm as they were getting some of my sent, I watched to see what they would do hoping there may be a shot, when they started to move away I knew I was out of luck with them I turned to sit back down and saw a very large deer at the far end of the alfalpha, 250 yards upwind. I could not tell if it was a buck or a doe as the light was fading, I knew ther was no time for waiting as the light was fading fast, so with the deer behind a rise in the field I ran for the top of the field to see if I could cut this deer off. I got to the top and found the deer at the fence row maknig a scrape, I now knew it was a buck and I knew he would come right past me as the field edge was full of scrapes. I setteled back into the brush and waited for the longest 15 min. of my life, at 6:30 he finally showed up and ended up facing me slightly quartering to me at 10 yards. I put the cross hair between the briscket and shoulder and pulled. He stood straight up and then ran down the field slowing to a walk and vanishing behind the rise in the field. I found him 20 yards in the brush off the field, he went about 150yards. The arrow entered the right lung, sliced the heart and exited through the left lung behind the left shoulder. The exocet with 2216 and 100grain hammers did the job again.

Well I pulled the trigger again last night at 6:35, this time on a huge buck, yes bigger than the one last week. I will fill in the details and pics later today as I am at work, and I know as many said before I should have booked. :D :D

Congrats!! But you're getting your priorities mixed up. Surely the pics and details are more important than work.

The rut is just starting to wind up, the bucks are scraping hard now so it would be a great time to rattle and sit a scrape line.

Great buck. When I got my doe Monday evening, I called into work and told them I was not coming in. Made the phone call while standing over the doe in the field  .
I hunt for memories, the meat's a bonus!
