8 Pointer!!!

Post by tkstae »

Well I finally got a shot at one this morning. I had just got up into my treestand and it wasn't five minutes later a small 8 pt. walked under my stand. I hit him high in the side, it knocked him down. I had time to cock and put the 2nd slick trick threw both lungs. Looks like he will go about 140lbs field dressed. I got him hanging in the garage. I'm going process him myself. This was the first deer i've taken from a tree stand. Kind of nice being able to take my time and pick my shot. I was a good 20ft. up the tree. I guess thats why I hit him high, even though I've been practicing from an elevated position it wasn't that high. It's a pretty small window from that height and only about 10yds out. That's three deer in three years for me with my Exocet. Of course it never would have happened without the great advice i've recieved from all of you and of course EXCALIBUR. Thanks and best of luck to you all this season.

Congrats on the deer. I guess it was no problem for you to load your Xbow up in the tree stand. Sometimes you just need that second shot to finish him off.
