First deer with my new Phoenix

Post by holeinmysox »

Took my first crossbow deer last nite. Shot this 2 pointer while he was fighting another buck right in front of my stand.
The other buck was a 6 pointer and nice but I passed on it. My son was nice enough to let me hunt from his stand while he was working so I felt it only right to leave the 6 pointer for him.
I shot this deer with my new Phoenix from a stand at about 15 yards. The wasp broadhead passed thru him like a hot knife thru butter. He took a little hop and then walked 15 feet before dropping. I was impressed at how fast he dropped and bled out using the wasp broadhead. The other buck went over and locked anters with him and tried fighting him even after he was down. My son got home from work and helped me drag him out so I loaned him my Phoenix and told him to get that 6 pointer this weekend. I'm looking forward to a big pot of chili this weekend.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I've visited the forum since buying my Excalibur....just never posted. There's alot of good info here.
As far as leaving the bigger buck for my son it was an easy decision for me. I'll derive alot more pleasure from seeing my son take it than I would by taking it myself. If he gets it with my Phoenix I'll be sure to post a pic.
