Got a new trail camera

Post by jay73 »

My in laws got me a trail cam for my b-day & early X-mas gift. :D Man, I'm pumped, as I've been wanting one for a while now. I was planning on picking one up for next season - but I lucked out I guess.

It is a Moultrie GameSpy 200. Comes with a built in 3.1mp dig. camera. It will be out in the bush in a matter of hours. :D

Does anyone have any experience with this make & model? I was just wondering what to expect.

I have one and am useing it now. It's best to have it aimed at a food source as it's reaction time is real slow.It goes into a sleep mode then comes to life upon sensing the first movement.

I'm still learning how to set the settings for the delay mode.I'm going out this eve. for a hunt and plan on bringing the camera in to check the pics.I use the internal memory for the photos.Right now I have a rechargable bettery  with the solar charger attached. That's working fine. The eve. before last I was out and it's still at full charge after 2 weeks. The first battery I had lasted 10 days :( and barely had the power to review the pics.

J I have a camera like the one you have. I really like it, I have two batteries and two 512 mb SD cards, I leave it a week or two and change out the card and battery. I have mine over a salt lick. It does best where you can hem the deer/varmits up. Like a salt lick or a feeder. You will enjoy it alot. Good Luck. Curdog

Hey guys,

I will be using just the internal memory for now. I picked up a battery and some chain/locks this morning. Just came back in from setting up the cam.

It is on a tree about 5-6 yards from my bait pile. I should be able to get some good shot from there I think. And most of all, finally getting to see what's out there when I'm not.

I hope I get a longer battery life than 10 days Bucko, I think the box says 6 weeks should be the average life span. I guess there's a lot of variables.

Anyways, let the photo's begin!! :D

J:
Check-out chasingame.com It's a site all about trail cams. I picked up a lot of useful info. I use two Moultry game spy 200 cams and have a load of pictures almost nightly.
