Last minute moose hunt
Hello all,
I took up an invitation for a last minute rifle hunt for moose and headed to Temagami for a week of some of the most beautiful country in Ontario. Took a few pics of my trip and thought I would share them with everyone:
Weather was great except for a snow storm or two....
I set myself out calling at some prime real estate....
Chicken hunting was out of this world....
I passed on these chickens as I'm not much on Sprucer's but they are a pretty bird:
The sites on some of the skidder trails were....
Moose licence $43:00
Trip to Temagami $200.00
Accommodations: $200.00
Travelling 2 hours in on a bush road by ATV by yourself and thinking that your bike's clearance was more than it was and not having a winch.........................PRICELESS~!
After spending almost 2 hours trying to get my bike off of the tree I stopped and decided to take a walk to cool down and found this fella doing his thing.....
I had a great time and at the end of the week we even managed to take a decent sized bull but as luck would have it my camera had gotten damp and I couldnt use it~!
Hope you all enjoy~!
Regards,
Robin

Great pictures!... Sounds like you had a great time...
Nice looking moose area for sure!
So, I take it you're gonna be getting that winch now!...
I have a winch on mine and believe me, I was real happy to have it a few times. I say they are a must on an ATV. Now go get that winch!...
Once again, great pics!

Hey great pictures, that bird really gave you a show! What outfitter did you go with and would you recommend them?
Great pitures Sandman, you and R.J. must be brothers.
Sounds like the Grouse population is also up where you are, as well as here. I went out with an old fellow grouse hunting 2 weeks ago, we done the best ever. 37 Ruffled Grouse and 6 Spruce hen. Could of got more Spruce hen, but like you, passed them up for better tasting Ruffies.
When the good lord puts the cycle up, he's telling you to go get as many as possible, becuase it won't always be good.
Congrats on the Moose, some of the best tasting Wild Meat in the Outdoors.

Grey Owl = Thanks.....R.J. was kind enough to take me under his wing so to speak since I picked up my first Excal 3 years ago. Thanks to him I've learned a tonne about archery hunting and have alot more to learn~! I even managed to catch the camera bug from him in the process~! The birds were plentiful~!GREY OWL wrote:Great pitures Sandman, you and R.J. must be brothers.

Re: last minute moose hunt
Was not much of an outfitter as the term goes....We stayed at Andorra Lodge just North of Temagami right on Hwy 11. Accommodations were great though.MADMAX2 wrote:Hey great pictures, that bird really gave you a show! What outfitter did you go with and would you recommend them?
I must say though I have hunted in the Upsala area for over 20 years up until about 3 years ago when I stopped going after my fathers death I would rather suffer the long drive there then return to Temagami. That's for a number of reasons including tags, and moose population. Just my opinion from up here in the cheap seats~!

Thanks for the info sandman,I have been going up to 21a for the past 20 years, but looking for something a little closer and have heard nothing negative about the temagami area.
Moose trip
Great trip pictures Sandman!
You were in my backyard up there. My place is 5 min. away from Andorra.
Like I've been telling you guys, the Bird hunting there is second to none.
I have a lot of pic's from this season up there, but haven't talked the wife into developing them yet. I have had the place there since 89'.
Have thousands of Wildlife pic's. If ever anyone wants to get a Hunt going with a few of us, with ATV's, for Bear , Moose , or Birds, accomodation is free. I can guarantee an excellent time. As well as Some of the best fishing around, all year round.
These first two are the inside of my place.
These are around the trails.
This is also my favorite Bear Hunting Area.
Andorra has been operating for quite a while, but they frequently ruin other peoples fishing adventures, and are known in the area for being kinda "prudish", as well as not letting anyone near their waterfront or surrounding area without being a paying customer. I do know of a few really good operators in the area if you choose to go again.
Thanks for the pic's again.
