Post by buzz »

Hi guys !
hope to get info on scope.
My freind has a vixon and shoots with a scope. He says in low light, or if the the deer is to close he can not pick the deer up quick enough on the scope. He is not happy with the scope.
when i purchase my bow should I get a scope or just use open sights ?
Hope you guys can help me wwith this question.
Thanks.

What scope is he using, an Excalibur scope? a Tasco? or other model? If its an Excal model, ask to try the scope, see if it suits you, if it doesn't try open sights or a red dot. I have Excal scopes on all my xbows and they work for me.

I used to swear by the peep sites that came on my bow,but I got a Varizone this year and I love it.I can hit within a 2 each circle at 20 yards 95% of the time.I even got a nice buck at 70 yards with it this year.Ya guys I know we shouldn't take such long shots but this buck stood there watching me as I walked down the trail like a horse covered in chains.

SCOPE

Tell friend to try shooting with both eyes open, can pick up target quicker. Hawk

That's vary good advise for anyone using a scope "keep both eyes open". A huge help also would be to tell your friend to learn to mount the stock without taking his eyes off the target. He will be surprised at not having to look for the target through scope again.

Thanks for the help.
I will try my freinds scope.
I have a red dot mounted on my 308 rifle and have taken down deer at 200 yards.
maybe the red dot is the way to go.
thanks buzz.

Scope suggestions

Post by Bruno-TL »

I have used the original sights and it was ok. I now find I need the extra help of a scope so I went Red Dot. I have used regular scopes on rifles and find that they are a little limiting picking up the object. Both eyes open. The red dot has worked great.
So that is my vote.

i meant on a crossbow. i put an aimpoint red dot. aimpoint is the only way to go because it's the only red dot that is 100% parralex free. that means just get the dot on target and do not worry about it being centered in the reticle. you can't beat them. the only thing is they're expensive.
