Awful Evening

Post by BigUgly »

WEnt to one of the properties today with a really good feeling of seeing some action. Found a whole bunch of sign with scrapes and rubs everywhere. Didn' know where top start cut a few small shooting lanes and leaned up against tree. Around 3:30 I hear something walking towards me, pretty sure it was a deer as I could here when it was walking in the water. Lift up the shotgun to get ready and heard a small metalic click sound. Wondered what that was, lowered the gun and heard the same thing, flipped the blizzard caps and that's when I noticed my scope mount base had come loose. Fought with myself for about 5 minutes as if to stay or not. Decided even though it was a small amount of movement I didn't want to risk wounding an animal because of the scope. Gave a couple loud grunts and heard whatever was coming my way turn and slowly walk. Waited for about 5 more minutes then left. Was a bad way to end the day but what else can you do? Bore sighted the gun know have to take the morning off to sight in again

You did the right thing by not chancing a shot. 8)
Just be sure you got the windage adjustments on the side, and the elevation adjustment on top or you'll be rushing home for more tools before you get it sighted in.......... Yep, I did it this past weekend.

WEll now I have no ecxuses sighted in the gun. First shot 3" low 5" to left. Made adjustments went almost the oppisite. Adjusted again then 5 shots at 100 yards in 5" circle. Took two in my hunting chair off hand and right on elevation and 1" to left. Now all I need is a deer to shoot at.
