ANYONE USE ANYTHING TO MAINTAIN THEIR RAILING??

Post by aspire30 »

Does anyone use anything to maintain their railing or do you just let the wax from the string take care of it? Please let me know.

That`s all. I just wax the string every about 50 shots and let the string do the work. Too much and it messes with the rail and string. Jack.

I let the wax from the string lube my rail. I used Horton rail lube years ago, but it seemed to just collect dirt and dust, so I quit using it and have gotten along fine W/O it. 200 pound xbows and up may need it but I keep to 150 and 165 lb xbows now.

Rail lub

Post by Michael Stogre »

Aspire 30: Horton's rail lub works well for me, but is expensive. In the past others on this site have mentioned
using sewing machine oil, or turtle wax. I might try Lipsyl
from the dollar store as it's made of beeswax plus other
ingredients. As others have said, Excalibur recommends
using the string wax as the deck wax. That way you only need to wax once.

Finally, for a fuller discussion of the topic see the archives
for past threads on this topic. I think I have mentioned most
of the tips but probably there are others. Best of luck

Further thought about lipsyl

Post by Michael Stogre »

Have been looking for years for a good anti-fogging agent. Have recently
tried the lipsyl. It seems to work pretty well. I got the idea from the
Old Hunter safety manual for Ontario. It suggested using wax on the
glasses and then buffing the lenses to a high gloss. They never said
what kind of wax to use. Lipsyl has natural beeswax. That seems good
to me!

someone will probably think there is something desperitly wrong with this but I just keep my string waxed and take a rag [old t-shirt] and spray it down with silicone spray and wipe the rail down to clean up old wax build up off and for me..... this works fine. M&M
