I use a MAG STYLE type flashlight but in the LED BULBS. I got mine at Princess Auto. It was a little large (3 D batteries) but had a very WHITE LIGHT immited from it. I found that it makes the BLOOD very noticable, even more noticable then the Coleman latern makes it.

Like wildwindom says, I believe it is not so much which light, but what type of light. LED works for me.

Good luck.

Thanks for the quick responses!

I received the MaxLife 369 Tripod (from Canadian Tire) for Xmas and wasn't sure whether to keep it or not. You can use it with either 1, 3, or 6 LEDs.

I guess if LED is the way to go I'll give it a try!

Thanks,

I'm not sure if that tripod light is intense enough for what you are looking for. I have one of these and it's bright and has a good tight beam. It comes with a belt holster.

I should also say that depending on what brand you get depends on where the on/off switch is on the side or on the battery cap. I bought my light at Home Depot. (switch on the battery cap)

This one is brighter.

I feel that the brighter the WHITE LIGHT from the flash light, the better.

Ditto... but the best light for trailing is a Coleman lantern..

LED light with either blue LED's or a blue filter. Blood shows up just awesome and it doesn't ruin your night vision. Filtered light allows your eyes to remain adjusted to the darkness. White light will allow you to only see where the flashlight is shining. For me regular white light flashlights are strictly relegated to unpacking the truck and finding the outhouse.

The Gerber Carnivore is made for blood tracking. It makes the blood pop out. Used it this yr and it works very well.
Get out & Enjoy.

We use to use the coleman lantern but have switch to the 18 volt Dewalt lite(WD908). It uses the same battery as the cordless drill. I think it shows the blood better, isn't hot, heavy, or bulky.

The 18 volts are great. I use the Ryobi and keep about four batteries in the truck just in case. They put out alot of light and last a long time. But some batteries last longer than others thats why I keep them all in the bag.

I use this nine LED bulb flashlight, It throws a good beam of light and you can insert a colored filter in front of the bubs.

maybe something wrong with the led I use but found it turned the blood black and made it impossible to track. I find a small maglight with a coleman latern best for me. My Dad got me a million candlewatt cordless for xmas can't what to try that out.
