Lucky Last Day

Post by korey99 »

We managed to get out for one last hunt this morning (knowing full well a New Years Eve evening hunt wasn't in the works....just ask our wives!). The wind was gusting, and I didn't think we'd see anything, but it was good to be out none-the-less.

Then at 8:30, this little buck came across the creek and along the trail right in front of me! He'd managed to get by my hunting partner who was set-up 200 yards away, crossing behind him and not offering a shot. But then he made the mistake of working towards my stand location.

The Exomag put the Laser II carrying the Slick Trick on its mark. He did the donkey-kick and managed to run off across the cut corn field for about 100 yards before piling up.

It looked like he had been been struck by a car earlier in the fall/late summer, as 1/2 his rack was broken off, and the side of his face was messed up, with a weird growth on it. I didn't mind taking this guy from the herd. He'll still make good pepperettes!

That's three little bucks this year for me...the boys were gracious in sharing their tags! I offered the lone doe tag, but nobody managed to fill it...oh well...we did alright regardless.

See you in October!

Good job. I always kill cripples and culls when I can. Feel like I'm keeping the best herd I can here on the place.

Cangrats and good fortune for you. My wife and I were out 3 evenings in 92b but had no luck...called in a doe to about 33 yards but she offered no good shot, head on only...not good for an arrow.

Congrats Korey.

I spent most of the day out & managed to see a couple of rear ends but nothing to shoot at.

Got soaked & decided to pack it in at 4:05 after being out all day being frozen like a popsicle by then.

All in all I feel it was a good season even though the tags are sticking a little to the inners from that glue on them.

All the more reason to drink more beer tonight I guess :P

Shoot Straight & Happy New Year
