Rookie question about vane size?

Post by Perch74 »

l see that some of you are using 2 inch vanes compared to 3,4 or 5 inch. Is there a difference or is it perference.
Thanks

I have always been told it is the height of the vane that counts the most. Other than that it is mostly what ever you like. A shorter vane you can use more helix on a shorter vane with out it touching the rail.

I think most of the guys posting about fletching are refering to the 2 inch Blazer. Its a bit different from conventional fletches because it seems to be alot stiffer. I compared 4 & 5 inch feathers and vanes with the 2 inch stiffer Blazers and was really impressed with the Blazers. I'm abit surprised at how well they fly with broadheads. I'm switching all my bolts to them for next season.

Didn't I read here about the 2" vanes getting a bit more speed. Maybe 5-10fps more?
