165 # Exocet Question
Have any of you that have an older 165# Exocet shot it through a chronograph to check your speeds? My wife got me an Arizona EZ Fletch and I'm trying to decide between 2213s and 2216s. I've searched way back in the forum but everything I've been able to find references newer, faster stuff.
Assuming all of the past advice holds true, the 2213s would be faster but noiser, and the 2216s slower and quieter. The question I'm asking, I guess, is how much faster and/or noisier.

I highly doubt that any difference in noise between those 2 bolts will matter to the deer/game. The 2216's will give you more K.E. at the point of impact, if I am not mistaken. However, like you said the 2213's will give you a tad more speed.
It's about preference. I'm sure there's folks here that shoot both combinations and swear by them.
Me, I shoot a 165 Exocet with mag tip limbs and DP bars. I went back to aluminum bolts this year and used 2216's. Loved them. Only wish I got a couple more shots away.
Good luck,
Jay

My 2001 Exocet 165 lb xbow with mag tip limbs would shoot a shade under 300 fps with 2216 and just over 300 with 2213 bolts.

When I had my 2001 Exocet 165#, I was getting speeds of approx. 286 fps with 2216 bolts that weighed 425grains.

Guys,
Thanks for the info. None of those speeds are terribly slow so I'll probably just keep shooting the 2216s and experiment with different types of fletching until I figure out which one shoots the best for me. I'm mainly trying to find a color that is more visible to me but thought I would get some advice before I ordered the new bolts and started playing.
Thanks again,
Roger

I shoot a 1998 165# exocet and always used2117's. You fellas are talking 22's .Did ex calibur change the channel width on later models to accomodate the larger shafts? The 2216 is virtually the same in specs as the 2117 but a hair stiffer.the 2213 a lot weaker than the others.
So I guess I have 2 questions:
Is the channel wider on later models and why 2216's as opposed to 2117's
Thanks,LS

165# exocet
ps: I forgot to add, the reason I stick with 2117's is that the wall is thicker than the 2216 or 13- I have mostly shoot throughs with the bolt sticking in trees and ground and hardly ever a bent shaft. I know from
40 years of stick bow that the 2216 will not hold up as well. To be honest though the 2117 does come off a bit weak but the fletching does a good job of correcting the flight.
